A Rising Voice: The Story Behind the Oklahoma City Black Owned Business Guide Magazine

The spirit of entrepreneurship is alive and thriving in Oklahoma City — and the Oklahoma City Black Owned Business Guide Magazine is leading the movement to make sure Black businesses are seen, supported, and celebrated.

How It All Began

The magazine was born from a powerful idea by Veronica Harrison, a visionary community builder and entrepreneur. As the Chief Editor of the Oklahoma City Black Owned Business Guide Magazine and the Co-founder of the Oklahoma Black Business Network (OBBN) on Facebook, Veronica saw a need to go beyond social media conversations and create a permanent platform dedicated to visibility, economic empowerment, and collaboration among Black-owned businesses.

From the very start, her goal was clear — to give Black entrepreneurs a trusted resource where their work could be highlighted, their voices amplified, and their stories told with pride and purpose.

The Partnership with The Original Black Wall Street

To bring this vision to life on a larger scale, the Oklahoma City Black Owned Business Guide Magazine partnered with The Original Black Wall Street, a growing national media and advertising agency committed to rebuilding legacy and visibility for Black America.

This partnership allows the magazine to tap into an expansive multimedia network — including digital radio, blogs, podcasts, and social media platforms — reaching over 2.2 million readers and listeners. Together, they’re transforming how Oklahoma’s Black entrepreneurs are showcased and supported.

The collaboration symbolizes the connection between Oklahoma City and Tulsa, uniting both cities under a shared mission: to rebuild, empower, and inspire new generations of business leaders across the state and beyond.

A Platform with Purpose

Each edition of the magazine celebrates excellence in business while offering affordable advertising opportunities designed to help small business owners grow their audience and brand. The Kickoff Christmas Edition, launched December 1, 2025, marks the beginning of a new chapter in Oklahoma’s Black business movement — one that’s filled with collaboration, creativity, and community pride.

> “We’re not just creating pages; we’re creating history,” said Veronica Harrison. “This magazine is a reflection of our unity, our brilliance, and our belief that together, we rise.”
